The cultivation records of apple in China can be traced back to the Western Han Dynasty. In the reign of Emperor Wudi of Han, Chinese apple trees and kaempferia ferries were cultivated in Shanglin Garden. Most of them were used to smoke clothes. Some of them were put on beds as incense or put on clothes. But some say that the fruit, which has been mistaken for apples in modern times, was introduced to China from Central Asia during the Yuan Dynasty, when it was served only at the imperial court.
